Hot Dog Brand #1 - Boars Head Beef (Natural Casing)

Today i decide to buy Boars Head Beef Hot Dogs to kick off my hot dog grilling experiment. The flavor is excellent the only reason i didnt rank it higher was due to the size, it is bun length but very skinny.

I also love ice cold soda in glass bottles. Today i will drink A&W Root Beer.

I stopped at Henry's Farmers Market and picked up some Boars Head Beef Hot Dogs and Buns.

I grilled the hot dogs and buns.
I fixed my wife's the way she likes them with mustard, ketchup, jalepenos amd yellow american cheese.
I like mine mostly with mustard and ketchup.

My opinion is that these are very good quality hot dogs and tasted great on the grill.

Check back often to see what im grilling.
Check back next week to see what hot dog im grilling next.

Hot Dog Brands

I was reading about hot dogs the other day. This was sparked by my visit to Costco. I had a hot dog from the food court and it was not as good as they were when they served Hebrew National. I've known for awhile that they don't sell Hebrew National at the food court. But i was interested to find out if it was public knowledge. Due to the fact that they still have the Hebrew National hot dog posted on the sign at a couple of locations Ive been to. But they have replaced the HN umbrellas with Kirkland signature. Anyways that's another story.

While i was looking for info on that change i came across a website that sparked an idea for my summer grilling.
Check out the website if you get a chance
http://www.thegourmetchilidog.com/hotdogbrands_01.html.

My idea was that instead of grilling the same hot dog each time. I would grill a different brand of hot dog each week and post on it. Hoping to find some great tasting dogs.

I used to buy only Hebrew National but Costco no longer sells the jumbo ones and they are to expensive in the market. By the way Costco replaced selling the HN jumbo hot dog in the store with Kirkland Signature which i have bought exactly 2 times and then decided to never buy those again.

In the summer of 2010 i was at the Ventura County Fair and I noticed they had a Pinks hot dog stand and i was reading the signs and read that they use Hoffy Brand hot dogs.

Ive been grilling the 1/4 pound Hoffy Beef Hot Dogs since.
I am excited to try a few differnt brands and see which is the best to me.

So starting today i will post atleast one differnt brand each week.
Please come back to my site and see how things are cooking up.

Thanks for visiting.
